A Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority practice struck and critically injured a bicyclist in Lengthy Seashore on Saturday morning, briefly interrupting rail service whereas emergency crews aided the injured man, authorities mentioned.
The collision occurred round 11:16 a.m. close to the intersection of Spring Avenue and Del Mar Avenue, simply north of the Willow Avenue Station on Metro’s A Line. Based on a press release by the Lengthy Seashore Police Division, the bicyclist was driving westbound on Spring Avenue and went across the railway crossing arms close to the tracks when he was struck by the practice.
The injured bicyclist, recognized solely as a person, was transported to a hospital in important situation, mentioned Lengthy Seashore Fireplace Division Capt. Jack Crabtree.
L.A. Metro spokesman Rick Jager mentioned the incident is being investigated by Lengthy Seashore police. There have been no experiences of accidents to any passengers or crew members aboard the practice, he added.
Practice service on that portion of the road was stopped from the time of the incident till about 1:15 p.m., Jager mentioned, when it resumed with shuttle buses getting used to move riders between the Del Amo and Willow stations.
