OR Tambo Worldwide Airport had 41 flight delays on Wednesday, 28 December, after ‘there was a problem with refueling of aircrafts.’
The technical challenge included the principle provide valve that’s used to provide gasoline to the airplanes being unable to open. Being unable to gasoline the planes, the airport used a tanker to gasoline every plane manually. This mode of refueling takes for much longer and subsequently causes many delays.
ACSA states that ‘technicians are onsite and have resolved the problem. They’re continuously monitoring the state of affairs.’
With delays of 38 home flights, eight worldwide flights, and one regional flight, OR Tambo is engaged on clearing the backlog.
